Is my document really not uploaded?

Correct. The PDF is rendered and rewritten entirely in your browser. You can confirm it: open your browser's network tab before you drop the file in, and you will see no request carrying it.

Do I need an account?

No. No signup, no subscription. Open a file, sign it, and pay only when you want the copy without the watermark.

Will the signed file still be searchable?

Yes. The marks are added to the original PDF rather than a picture of it, so the existing text stays selectable and searchable and the file size stays sensible.

Can I sign on my phone?

Yes, and drawing with a finger is usually better than with a mouse. The signature pad takes touch and stylus input directly.

Can several people sign the same document?

You can place as many signatures as you like, but each person has to open the file in turn on their own machine, since nothing is stored here. For a routed signing order with reminders, use a service built for that.

What about a password protected PDF?

A file that needs a password to open cannot be read here. Remove the protection in the application that created it, or open it with the password and save an unprotected copy first.

Is a signature like this legally binding?
In most countries an electronic signature on an ordinary business document carries the same weight as an ink one, and a signature you draw here is the same kind of mark you would make on paper. The common cases, a freelance contract, an offer, a supplier form, a school letter, are exactly what this is for. What this deliberately does not do is record an audit trail. Services like DocuSign log who opened the document, from which address, and when, and that log is the thing you are really buying from them. It matters when a signature might be disputed, when several parties sign in sequence, or when a rule requires a witness or a qualified certificate. So: ordinary documents here, high value or contested ones somewhere built for it. That is a straight answer rather than a sales pitch, and it is the same reason nothing is uploaded. None of this is legal advice.
